2011 Consilience Petite Sirah

ConsilienceThey say, good things come to those who wait. I’ve been waiting 5 long years for this wine to finally settle down, mature and show like the great wine I knew it could be. The muscular cherry, plum and blackberry fruit combined with licorice, dark chocolate and rootbeer flavors dance harmoniously across the palate. Balanced spice notes and well rounded tannins linger on its long jammy finish. I tried to enjoy this wine in the past but it was so banjo string tight, decanting or aerating just wouldn’t help this wine open up. Same goes for 4 other recent vintages of this same wine, they certainly are drinkable now, not offensive by any means, but for this wine to really shine, you will need to be patient to be rewarded. Such a beautiful wine, but remember, an investment in time will result in money well spent.
