Hanepoot – South Africa

The grape Hanepoot, also known as Muscat of Alexandria, whose origins hail from Egypt is one of the oldest and rarest varietals in the world. It is a white grape used in the making of a sweet white dessert wine with pronounced honey and raison flavors. Mainly grown in the Cape Winelands in South Africa, it is also found in Australia, Malaga and Valenia Spain and the Canary Islands.
