2015 Begali Lorenzo Ripasso

The old adage “Good things come to those who wait” hits the nail on the head for this Classico Superiore from the Veneto region of Italy. When purchased 5 years ago, in its youth it tasted a little rough around the edges but I knew that the building blocks of a great wine were there if only given time. Time and patience are paying off as the dark fruits, spice, raison and chocolate flavors finally display their true colors. Add notes of cinnamon, clove, vanilla, cigar smoke with a subtle mineral/earthiness that finishes with smooth medium tannins. Consisting of a blend of Rondinella and Corvina grapes, the current 2019 vintage is well worth the effort of also cellaring for future enjoyment.
